WGA’s Streaming Strike Hits Apple
The streaming strike has hit Apple TV production all over the US. In Newtown Square Delaware County Pennsylvania, members of the Writers Guild of America are picketing the Apple TV+ series, Sinking Spring (based on native Philadelphian, Dennis Tafoya’s book Dope Thief.) In Bel-Air California the set of Loot (featuring Maya Rudolf) is also being picketed. Loot is in its second season. With approximately 12 shows in production, Apple TV+ has approximately 30 finished shows to release before they feel the squeeze. Still, some shows that were due for imminent release are being delayed. The second season of The Afterparty is being bumped from April to July. To mitigate content loss, Apple acquired the international series, Drops of God.
