Seaford- Delaware State Police have arrested 34-year-old Dwight Berrian of Seaford on weapon and related charges.
On Saturday, September 5th, 2020, at approximately 7:52 p.m., a trooper conducting proactive patrol in the area of Dove Road observed Berrian walking westbound on the eastbound lane of Dove Road near Middlecord Road, not carrying a flashlight. Contact was made with Berrian for the traffic violation, and the odor of alcohol and marijuana was detected. As a result, a criminal investigation ensued. Located on Berrian was a marijuana grinder with approximately .62 grams of marijuana inside and a blue switchblade knife that exceeded 3 inches in length. A computer search revealed Berrian was not allowed to possess any deadly weapons.
Berrian was taken into custody without incident and transported to Troop 5 where he was charged with the following crimes:
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon by a Person Prohibited (felony)
- Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon (felony)
- Possession of Marijuana (civil violation)
- Drunk of the Highway
- Failure to Carry Light on Public Road
Berrian was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court #3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $5,150 secured bond.
