Georgetown- The Delaware State Police arrested 45-year-old JOSE F. DIAZ-CARDONA for felony assault and related charges.
The incident occurred on August 9, 2020, at approximately 10:00 p.m. when Troopers were dispatched to a residence on Rogers Avenue, Georgetown, for a stabbing complaint. Upon arrival, Troopers were advised that the victim had already been privately transported to a local area hospital and the suspect fled the residence. Further investigation revealed that a 35-year-old male and Diaz-Cardona had been attending a party at the residence when the two engaged in a physical altercation outside the residence. The victim attempted to run away when Diaz-Cardona chased him and threatened to kill him. During the physical altercation, Diaz-Cardona cut the victim numerous times with an unknown sharp cutting object on his chest and leg. The victim’s injuries were non-life threatening.
Troopers responded to Diaz-Cardona’s residence on N. Race Street. Georgetown, and took him into custody without incident. He was transported back to Troop 4 where he was charged with the following:
- Assault First Degree (Felony)
- Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony (Felony)
- Terroristic Threatening
Diaz-Cardona was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and released on $40500.00 unsecured bond.
