Bear – The Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a motorcycle that occurred at approximately 4:23 p.m., Sunday, May 24, 2020. The crash occurred on northbound SR 1, Korean War Veteran Memorial Highway, north of the US 13/SR1 split and just south of Tybouts Corner, Bear.
The initial investigation has determined a 2016 Victory Magnum motorcycle operated by a 53-year-old Chester, PA man, was traveling on SR 1 through a slight right curve and then a slight left curve in the right lane of travel. While traveling through the slight left curve, the operator failed to negotiate the curve and traveled off the right side of the roadway. The motorcycle then struck an embankment, and the operator was ejected from the motorcycle. The operator was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The identification of the victim is pending notification of next of kin.
